Israel says Hamas Khan Younis Brigade commander, two others killed in Gaza strike
The Israeli military said Friday it killed Muhammad al-Yazuri, the commander of Hamas’ Khan Yunis Brigade, in a strike in southern Gaza, along with two other members of the group’s military wing.
The Israel Defense Forces said the strike was carried out Thursday by the IDF and Shin Bet, Israel’s domestic security agency, in the Khan Yunis area. Al-Yazuri previously served as the brigade’s deputy commander, the commander of its combat support battalion and the head of its intelligence division, the military said.
The IDF said the other two people killed in the strike were Hudhaifa Muammar, a company commander, and Muhammad Bahjat Radi, whom it said was another Hamas military wing operative in the Khan Yunis Brigade.
The military said its forces in the Southern Command remain deployed “in accordance with the agreement” and would continue operating against what it called immediate threats.
The claims have not been independently verified and Hamas had not immediately issued a public response confirming the deaths.
