Afghanistan Freedom Front claims attack on Taliban vehicle in Badakhshan

The Afghanistan Freedom Front said Monday that three Taliban fighters were killed and two others wounded in an attack on a Taliban military vehicle near the northern Afghan city of Fayzabad.

The anti-Taliban armed group said its fighters carried out the attack earlier Monday, targeting the military vehicle in the area around Fayzabad, the capital of Badakhshan province.

The Freedom Front did not give more details about the attack or the weapons used.

There was no immediate reaction from Taliban officials regarding the reported casualties. The charge could not be independently confirmed.

The Afghanistan Freedom Front is one of several armed groups fighting the Taliban’s rule. It has claimed a series of attacks against Taliban positions and personnel in recent months, including operations in Badakhshan and other provinces.

Badakhshan has witnessed a surge in armed opposition activity, with the Taliban and anti-Taliban groups reporting fighting in several districts.

The Taliban, which seized power in 2021, has repeatedly claimed that security is in place across Afghanistan, but opposition groups continue to report attacks against its forces.
