India beat South Korea in shoot-off to win Asian Games compound mixed team gold

India claimed the compound mixed team archery gold at the 2026 Asian Games on Wednesday, with Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Rajesh Jadhav overcoming South Korea in a shoot-off in Okazaki, Japan.

After the four-end final was tied at 157 – 157, the Indian duo won the shoot-off 20 – 19. Taniparthi and Jadhav held their nerve in the deciding arrows as both the Indians shot 10s while South Korea’s Choi Yong-hee managed a 9 with his final arrow.

India led 80-78 after the first two ends, before South Korea closed the gap to one point. South Korea then levelled the contest in the fourth end to take it to a shoot-off.

The victory gave India its second gold in compound archery at the Games. The mixed team event was introduced for the first time at the Asian Games in 2018, with South Korea winning a third consecutive silver medal in the event.
