India completes compound archery gold hat-trick at Asian Games

India completed a hat-trick of compound archery team gold medals at the Asian Games on Wednesday after Sahil Jadhav and Ganesh Mani Ratnam edged China 238-237 in the men’s final after Kushal Dalal.

India staged a brilliant comeback to win a close game at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square. Jadhav was perfect with all his eight arrows landing on the 10-ring, reports The Tribune.

The men’s gold came after the gold medals bagged by India’s women’s compound team and mixed team earlier in the day. Women’s trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Chikitha Taniparthi and Prithika Pradeep beat China 238-234 to retain their title. Chikitha and Jadhav won the mixed team event against South Korea in a shoot-off.

The three wins gave India gold in all three compound archery team events at the Games, repeating the sweep the nation pulled off at the Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2023.

The compound archers of India will now focus on the individual events, the quarterfinals of which will be played on Thursday, News on AIR reported.
