India wins boxing, women’s recurve archery golds at Asian Games
India struck gold medals in boxing and women’s recurve archery at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya on Friday and added silver medals in the mixed and men’s recurve team events.
Lovlina Borgohain won the women’s 75-kilogram boxing title and Ankita Bhakat, Kirti Sharma and Kumkum Mohod beat South Korea 5-3 to claim India’s first Asian Games gold in the women’s recurve team event.
In the mixed recurve team event, Kumkum Mohod and Dhiraj Bommadevara had to settle for silver after losing to China in the final. The men’s recurve team of India also won silver.
Sailor Nethra Kumanan bagged a bronze in the women’s dinghy event, her maiden Asian Games medal.
The results contributed to India’s medal tally at the Aichi-Nagoya Games with the country maintaining its campaign in boxing, archery, sailing and other sports.
