Light rain, snow likely on Oct 10; thunder, gusty winds forecast for Oct 13-14
Srinagar: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast generally dry weather with intermittent spells of light rain and possible snowfall over the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir over the next 10 days.
According to a MeT official, the weather is expected to remain mostly dry on Friday, October 9, although a brief spell of light rain may occur at a few places late at night.
On October 10, generally cloudy conditions are expected, with light rain likely at scattered to many places and light snowfall possible over higher elevations.
The weather is likely to remain generally dry on October 11 and 12.
For October 13 and 14, the MeT has predicted generally cloudy conditions, with light rain and light snowfall over higher reaches at many places. Thunderstorms and gusty winds are also likely during this period.
On October 15, the weather is expected to remain mostly dry, though a brief spell of light rain may occur at a few places. Generally, dry conditions are forecast from October 16 to 18.
Meanwhile, the MeT department has advised farmers to continue harvesting and ensure the safe storage of harvested apples and paddy.
The department has also indicated the possibility of thunderstorms and gusty winds on October 10 and October 13–14.
