A total of two more silver medals were added in shooting as India’s athletes geared up for a hectic day of action in athletics and several other disciplines at the Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Tuesday.

Manish Narwal secured the silver medal in the men’s 10-metre air pistol SH1 event, while Ashok also bagged the silver in the sport as India remained in the hunt for medals on the second day of the Games, reported The Times of India.

The results continued India’s good start on Monday when the team picked up 11 medals – four gold, five silver and two bronze – to be placed fourth in the overall table.

Athletics was the principal event on Tuesday, with Deepthi Jeevanji claiming the gold in the women’s 400m T20 final in 56.36 seconds. Another para archery world record was made by Sheetal Devi reaching the women’s compound quarter-finals.

India’s entries for medals included para swimming, table tennis, powerlifting, badminton and archery, with a number of competitors set to feature in the finals and knockout stages. The athletes were also preparing for the finals and knockout round events of Para-Swimming.

The Asian Para Games are taking place in Aichi-Nagoya from Oct. 18 to 24, with participants from all over the continent.
