One killed, eight wounded in attack on Saudi’s King Fahd airport
One Saudi citizen was killed and eight injured when an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, eastern Saudi Arabia, took place on Wednesday evening, the General Authority of Civil Aviation announced, Al Jazeera reported.
The wounded had injuries from less severe to critical and were transported to the hospital for treatment, the authority said in a statement. Officials were evaluating the material damage resulting from the attack.
Diversions were made from the airport after the incident, Associated Press has reported citing the flight-tracking service Flightradar24.
The attack comes as Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels have stepped up missile and drone attacks on Saudi airports and other infrastructure.
