Indian squash player Anahat Singh reached her first Professional Squash Association (PSA) Gold-level semi-final after fighting back to defeat Egypt’s Salma Hany at the Silicon Valley Open in Redwood City, California.

The 18-year-old, ranked 15th in the world, recovered from a 2-1 deficit to beat the sixth-seeded Egyptian 4-11, 11-8, 4-11, 11-2, 11-5 in a 42-minute quarter-final on Thursday.

Anahat dominated the final two games, dropping just seven points to complete the comeback and secure a place in the last four of the tournament.

The victory came a day after the Indian stunned eight-time world champion and world No. 3 Nour El Sherbini in straight games to reach the quarter-finals.

“I was a bit tired coming into the match because of the emotions after winning yesterday. I just didn’t want to let go of the momentum today. I wanted to give it my all, and I’m happy to get one step further in the tournament,” Anahat said, according to the IANS report.

The Indian will face Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam in the semi-finals. Subramaniam defeated Anahat in the women’s singles final at the 2026 Asian Games, where the Indian won silver.

Anahat, the reigning world junior champion, has continued her strong run on the senior circuit with the latest milestone.
