US President Donald Trump has mocked Norway after failing to win the Nobel Peace Prize, saying that Norwegian immigrants were not welcome in the United States.

Trump described Norway as a “shit house country” in a speech at a political rally in Port Huron, Michigan, on Sunday, calling out the Nobel Committee for not awarding him the prize, Reuters reported.

‘Because I did not get the Nobel Prize … So I don’t want anybody from Norway,’ Trump said, as he ranted about France.

It did not seem that the Trump administration was imposing any new immigration restrictions on Norwegians.

However, Trump has previously slammed Norway on the award, although the prize is awarded by an independent committee with no ties to the Norwegian government.

He called the snub an “indelible stain on Norway” earlier this month. The remarks came ahead of the Nov. 3 US elections in which Trump is fighting for Republican candidates.

Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a Norwegian Nobel Committee spokesperson did not comment immediately to Reuters outside normal working hours.

According to the International Monetary Fund, Norway is one of the highest-income countries in the world.
