Srinagar: Minister Sakina Itoo has raised concerns over frequent traffic disruptions caused by security convoy movements on the Srinagar-Anantnag-Kulgam-Qazigund Highway, highlighting the difficulties faced by commuters, students and patients.

In a post on X, Itoo said that during her frequent journeys along the highway, she had witnessed ambulances being held up, students missing classes and commuters being forced to wait for 15 to 30 minutes, and sometimes even hours, due to convoy movement.

Questioning the hardships faced by the general public, she urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the concerned authorities to consider practical measures to streamline traffic management without compromising security arrangements.

She stressed the need to ensure uninterrupted movement of ambulances and reduce inconvenience to commuters while maintaining essential security protocols.

“Security is paramount, but so is the well-being of our people,” Itoo said, adding that security and compassion must go hand in hand.

She further called for governance that reflects sensitivity and provides meaningful relief to people in their everyday lives.
