Burglars decamp with ATM machine in Pampore

Srinagar: In yet another incident of burglary, the thieves have decamped with an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in Pulwama district.

Reports said that an ATM of a private bank was installed in Pampore town the district some time back.

However, when people resumed their businesses on Tuesday morning they found the ATM missing, said a local.

The thieves – uinknown in number – have pulled out and took away the ATM of HDFC Bank along with cash in Kadalbal area of the town.

The amount of cash present inside the machine could not be immediately known.

Soon after the news of the incident spread, police rushed to the spot and sealed the area before registering a case.

They have started investigations.

Pampore town – a highland plateau – is known for world famous Saffron. It is a highway town on vital Srinagar-Jammu road accounting high business with at least twelve kilometre away from Srinagar.

Besides, J&K Bank, almost all private banks have established their branches in the area.

The incidents of bank robbery and decamping of ATMs have seen rise essentially in south of Srinagar.
