Disruption of Search Ops: Div Com appeals elders to counsel youth
Srinagar: As people remain adamant and continue to disrupt the military operations during gun fights, the government has once again renewed its appeal asking people to stay away from the encounter sites.
Two civilians were killed when hundreds of people tried to help militants escape an encounter site in Arwani area of Kulgam district on Friday.
The armed personnel of Indian army, CRPF and J&K police had launched cordon and search operation (CASO) around 4 am in the area following reports of militant presence.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, on Saturday appealed the people to stay away from counter-insurgency operation sites “for their own safety”.
“Assembling at the encounter sites is fraught with danger as nobody can predict the trajectory of a bullet and there is also a danger of bullet hitting people after ricocheting,” he said. “People should remain away from such sites to ensure their safety.”
The Divisional Commissioner said that loss of precious lives is very painful both for the Government as well as the deceased family.
He appealed the parents, community elders and prayer leaders to counsel and advise youths to stay away from counter-insurgency operation sites.
