First batch of Hajj pilgrims leaves from Srinagar

Srinagar: The first batch of Hajj Pilgrims left on Tuesday for the annual pilgrimage to Medina from the Srinagar International Airport.

The first flight took off with 420 pilgrims in the presence of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Auqaf Minister Farooq Andrabi. The plane took off at 10.5 am.

This year, according to the government 8100 pilgrims will perform Hajj. Last year nearly 6500 traveled to perform Hajj. This year the number increased as the Hajj quota from the state was increased.
