For solving Kashmir one needs political initiatives, not deadlines: Opp to Home Minister

How can we react to lies and propaganda: Congress

This is mere rhetoric: National Conference

Srinagar: Opposition parties on Saturday said that BJP-led government instead of taking political initiatives for resolution of the Kashmir issue are fixing datelines on Kashmir which is not going to solve it.

Reacting to the Home Minster Rajnath Singh’s statement in which he had said that by 2022, a solution would be found for Kashmir and other problems like terrorism, naxalism and North East insurgency, National Conference and Congress reacted by saying that fixing datelines will not solve issues until political initiatives are taken on ground.

Pradesh Congress Committee president, G A Mir said that BJP and its leaders change statements like weather as the party lacks a featured policy on resolving issues.

“BJP’s existence is based on lies and propaganda. And their leaders change statements like weather, so Congress does not deem worth to react to them. How can we react to lies and propaganda? ,” Mir told KNS.

“For resolving issues, you need to have political and diplomatic policies which BJP is empty of. So, how does it make sense if BJP gives one year or five years deadline for solving of issues,” he said.

He said that the “unfortunate” part is that the PDP is “copying” their partner. “Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also sought three months for initiating dialogue and peace process, but on the ground nothing is happening,” he said.

National Conference provincial president, Nasir Aslam Wani said that fixing datelines will not solve the issue until political initiatives are taken on ground.

“We would want to know what the policy of the GoI is through which they are resolving the issue till these datelines. On the ground, no political initiative is being taken. So this is mere rhetoric. Prime Minister also said in his Independence Day speech that Kashmiris should be embraced. But what are they doing on the ground in Kashmir,” Wani told KNS.
