Cross-LoC bus arrives under high security cover

Uri: Under the high security cover, the weekly Cross-LoC (Karvan-e-Aman) bus service, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad arrived in Kashmir this evening.

Naib Tehsildar Uri, Syed Basharat Rasool told the Free Press Kashmir over phone that the cavalcade of Cross-LoC bus reaches this side of LoC at 7 pm.

“We arrived Uri a few minutes back and now the bus has headed for Srinagar. All the passengers who have come from the other side of LoC reached safely,” Rasool said.

“We don’t want to take a risk regarding our guests. We came back under high security cover,” he said.

We and the passengers were stuck for at least three hours at Kaman Post as an encounter was underway in Kalgai village of Uri sector, said an official.

Officials said that at least 35 passengers crossed over to Muzaffarabad from this side those include 3 fresh and 32 returnees.

They said that 27 passengers came from the other side of Line of Control which includes 24 fresh and 3 returnees.

Meanwhile, panic and tension has erupted along the villages lying on Uri-Kaman Post belts as the encounter and search operation is still on at the Kalgai village on Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Uri sector.

Police on Monday evening said that they have also received the dead bodies of three militants for the burial. “The fourth dead body is yet to receive by us,” said an official.
