Srinagar: The homes of active militants were allegedly ransacked by forces in the Shopian district on Tuesday.

According to reports houses of active militants Adil Ahmad Malik and Umar Nazir Malik of Malik Gund village were raided and vandalized by the forces.

It is also said that two brothers of Umar and one brother of Adil and his friend, have been arrested.

In Turkwangam village, home of another active militant, Zubair Ahmad Wani, was vandalized and his father, uncle and a guest have been reportedly arrested.

House of Obaid Malla, another active militant, was allegedly ransacked and his father and brother have been arrested too by the forces.

Two days prior,  a PDP activist Mohammad Ramzan was killed by militants in the same area. A militant Shawkat Fallahi was also killed in the incident after a ‘scuffle’ with the family members of the activist.

On Tuesday, a mob set Ramzan’s house on fire. However no one was injured in the incident.

Recently in a Press Conference, the Inspector General of Police Munir Khan, in presence of the top brass of the Army and the CRPF offered militants to surrender. The joint forces added that miliants who wish to join the mainstream would be rehabilitated properly by the government.

This appeal was reiterated by the IGP in another presser on Monday in which he added that militants who offer surrender even during encounters will be accepted.
