Pakistan does not get pressurised by threats, Lodhi tells US

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Maleeha Lodhi, said on Friday that the country did not respond to threats in the wake of the United States’ do-more demand.

Pakistan based Times Of Islamabad quoted the representative as saying, “Pakistan does not get pressurised from threats,” said Maleeha Lodhi. “Pakistan was threatened to stay away from the UN resolution on Jerusalem.”

Maleeha Lodhi said that Pakistan had been given threats to stay away from the UN resolution on Jerusalem through various countries. She said that the stance of America and Israel had not gained traction with the rest of the world.

“The whole world is on one side and the United States and Israel is on another,” she said.

United States Vice-President Mike Pence also aimed a jab at neighboring Pakistan — reiterating word for word Trump’s warning that it must stop offering cross-border safe havens to Taliban factions and armed jihadist groups fighting US troops and their Afghan allies.

“President Trump has put Pakistan on notice,” Pence said.

“Pakistan has much to gain from partnering with the United States, and Pakistan has much to lose by continuing to harbor criminals and terrorists.”

More than 120 countries defied President Donald Trump on Thursday and voted in favor of a United Nations General Assembly resolution calling for the United States to drop its recent recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
