On Jan 26, Lone says Democracy will be a gift to our future generation

Srinagar: Minister for Social Welfare, ARI & Trainings and Science & Technology Sajad Gani Lone on Friday said that Republic Day is being celebrated every year to remember the democracy of the country.

Addressing a mammoth gathering at Kupwara District Police Line after unfurling the tricolor, Lone said that the democracy here will be a gift for the future generation. “The enemies will try hard to destroy the democracy but I want to inform you that the democracy will be a gift to our future generation,” he said.

He said that people should strengthen this institute for their well being.

Referring to the development of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, the Minister said that the district has seen an excellent development in past three years. “If we compare previous years and these three years, the district witnessed excellent development in every aspect,’ he said.

The Minister also stated that the people of Kashmir were receiving electricity from outside the state but the power projects allotted to this district would generate the electricity for the residents here. “Kupwara district will get its own electricity soon as the government will be utilizing the amount of Rs 500-1000 under Prime Minister Development Package (PMDP) on these power projects in Karnah and Mawar,” he said.

He further termed the package under PMDP to the state as historical and said that the amount cannot be utilized on the development in one go but it takes time in issuing tenders and starting the developmental works.

The Minister also said that in the first of its kind, the Valley is being provided with the Bio-technology Park and that too in Kupwara district. “The bio-technology park will be very fruitful for the farmer brothers as it would help them in cultivation and other related things,” he said.

He also told the gathering the district will also get the solar system facility as well. “Every residential house in the district will get the solar facility soon,” he added.

The Minister further said that the District Hospital Kupwara will be upgraded as the Multi Specialty Hospital very soon. “With seven storey building, the District Hospital Kupwara will be upgraded as the Multi Specialty Hospital here so that the patients of the district including cannot be shifted to other hospitals and can be treated in the hospitals of their own district,” he said.

He said that the up gradation will be done under the PMDP, stating that the buildings in the upcoming years will hopefully become the Medical Colleges as well.

Notably, it is for first time that Lone unfurled the tricolor at Kupwara district since he took oath as Minister in the PDP-BJP government.
