SMHS incident a ‘serious security lapse’, needs to be thoroughly probed, says Opposition

Jammu: The Opposition on Wednesday demanded a thorough probe into the shootout which took place at the SMHS Hospital on Monday.

National Conference termed it a ‘security lapse’ that has never taken place before.

A Lashkar militant Naveed escaped from the hospital after a brief shootout in which two policemen were killed.

NC alongwith Congress demanded a statement from the government over the issue.

“This is a security lapse. This has never happened before. It should be thoroughly probed,” said NC legislator Ali Muhammad Sagar.

MLA Kulgam Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami also termed it as a “serious security lapse”. Later, the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri made a statement about the attack in the House.

Naveed Jatt, a Lashkar militant escaped yesterday when militants attacked a police party escorting him during a medical check-up at SMHS hospital in Srinagar. Two cops were killed in the attack.
