KIVB row: Selection criteria set by NC government was followed, says PDP

Jammu: Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, the Vice Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board here on Tuesday hit back at opposition National Conference and asked them not to deliver sermons on selections keeping in view their own ‘track record’ on backdoor appointments in the government.

Speaking about the recent appointments in Jammu & Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board, the Board Vice Chairman Peerzada Mansoor Hussain during a press conference said that the eligibility criteria set Vide Government Order No: 49-IND of 2012, dated: 5.3-2012 for appointments in the Board by the previous Omar Abdullah Government was followed in the selection process pursued for selection of various categories of posts.

Clarifying that the 1:15 ratio for short listing the candidates and 40 marks for the Viva is as per the criteria fixed by the previous government, the KVIB Vice Chairman said that 7808 candidates who had applied for various categories of posts in response to an advertisement notification of the previous government in 2013 were also allowed to sit in the written test conducted by the present government for selection of various categories of posts.

Asking the previous government that why it did not conduct the selection process for the categories which were advertised by the Board in 2013 the KVIB Vice Chairman said only 14 class IV posts were filled up till October 2016 and the rest of the posts remained vacant.

He said that a fresh advertisement by the present government had to be advertised as many of the candidates who applied in 2013 found themselves placed in some other places and officers of KVIB were not at all involved in the selection process.

He said for the first time in the history of Jammu & Kashmir Khadi & Village Industries Board (KVIB) an officer of the rank of Commissioner/Secretary heading law and parliamentary affairs department was designated as Controller Examinations and tasked the job of holding selection.
