Army suicides continue, another one shoots self dead in Samba, second incident in a day

An Army jawan Tuesday committed suicide by shooting himself with his service pistol in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district.

One Jawan Naresh Yadav was found dead with bullet injuries in the Maheswar area, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba Anil Magotra.

The body has been recovered and sent to post mortem, he said, adding that initial investigation points towards suicide by him with his service pistol and an investigation is on.

Earlier today, another army man committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Official sources said that the Sepoy Kulvinder Singh of 10 Sikh Regiment today morning shoots himself at army camp in Mughalgund area of Qazigund while he was on duty.

Following the gunshot, the colleagues rushed towards the solider and found him in a pool of blood, they said, adding that the soldier was taken to nearby military hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

A police officer while confirming the incident said that a case has been registered and further investigations taken off.

On March 10, an Indian trooper posted in Srinagar had ended his life by shooting self with his service rifle.

Police sources had said that Constable Sukhdev from 79 Battalion CRPF shot self to death using his service rifle. Confirming the incident, Srinagar based PRO, Central Reserve Police Force said that the trooper died on spot.

It was the third such incident in a week. Earlier, in two separate incidents, two soldiers from Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army killed themselves in North Kashmir.
