Shopian gunfights aftermath: Civilian death toll mounts to four

Srinagar: Another civilian identified as Iqbal Bhat, of Khasipora Shopian succumbed to injuries after he had received a bullet in his abdomen, taking the civilian death toll to four.

Earlier, Mehraj-ud-din Bhat of Kachdoora village had died in forces’ firing.

According to reports Bhat had received a critical bullet wounds as the forces left from Kachdoora after the gunfight ended. He was taken to the sub-district hospital of Shopian from where he was taken to Pulwama district hospital.

However, he was declared brought dead.

During clashes near the gun fight sites two civilians Mushtaq Ahmad Thoker and Zubair Ahmad Bhat were killed.

The total death toll, with the killing of Bhat has mounted to 18 which include 11 militants, 3 army men.

Earlier, during the clashes near the gun fight sites, over a 100 people were injured.
