Traders’ body Kashmir Economic Alliance protests against killings in Kashmir

Traders’ body, Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) on Tuesday held a sit-in protest against the civilian and militant killings in south Kashmir and demanded that government should “stop to kill” innocent civilians in the state.

Addressing the protesting trader, KEA member Farooq Ahmad Dar said that the KEA has taken an initiative to aware the present coalition government about the innocent killings.

He said that if the civilian killings does not stop KEA will hit the streets. He said that if the killing continues then the state government will be responsible for the situation which will be worse than 2016 unrest.

Farooq Dar said, “World is watching how 15, 16 years-old students are being killed by the army.”

Many people have been injured after thirteen militants were killed in separate gunfights at Dragad and Kachdor villages of Shopian on Sunday.

One militant Rouf Bashir Khanday was killed and his associate Imran Rashid was arrested during an overnight gunfight at Brunty Dialgam in Anantnag district.

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Yasin Malik on Sunday called for a Kashmir-wide shutdown. The shutdown call initially was for Sunday and Monday, but was later extended to Tuesday.

Four civilian youth were killed, while a dozen others were injured near the gunfight sites, and the clashes that followed.
