Many other houses damaged as forces take away four youth, say locals
The house of DSP human rights Nisar Ahmad Bakshi at Naibasti locality of KP road along with several others was ransacked by the armed forces on Wednesday evening following clashes in the area.
The officer posted the photos of broken windows and windscreen smashed cars on his Facebook wall on Thursday morning. DSP Bakshi is a resident of Nai Basti area of south Kashmir’s Islamabad district.
Bakshi posted nine photographs on his Facebook wall which show windows of his house damaged and windscreens of few cars and broken scooter and a bike.
On social networking site Facebook, Bakshi wrote “Vandalism by security forces at K P Road Anantnag. Property worth lacs including windows and windowpanes of my residential house damaged. Houses/Vehicles and shops smashed and attacked by rods and rocks. This is for the 8th time since 2008 that my residential house has been damaged in such a way.”
Reports said that Police and SOG on Wednesday evening went on a rampage in K P Road and Khanabal areas of Islamabad and damaged window panes of several houses and also thrashed passer-by after some youth pelted few stones on their vehicle as the encounter was on in Turkawangam area of Shopian district.
“This is not the first time that forces damaged our property, they have been doing it regularly. Yesterday my father even pleaded at these policemen that this house belonged to a DSP, But it did not stop them from vandalizing our property,” Nisar Bakshi wrote.
The policemen not only damaged the parked cars but also beat up commuters who were passing through Khanabal, sources said. They added that forces also forcibly took away four youth from Khanabal after damaging several houses.
