Shopian gunfight aftermath: Kashmir University suspends class work for two days

The University of Kashmir has decided to suspend class work for two days as a ‘precautionary measure’, in wake of the killing of the missing Professor in the Shopian gun fight on Sunday.

Class work shall remain suspended on May 7 and 8 as a precautionary measure, said a spokesman.

Five militants were killed in the gun fight including top Hizb Commander Saddam Padder and Professor Mohammad Rafi Bhat of the Sociology Department, who had gone missing on Friday.

His disappearance had triggered protests at the varsity yesterday.

Meanwhile, during intene clashes which erupted near the gunfight site, many civilians have been injured. one of them, identified as Asif Ahmad Mir (21), son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir, a resident of Rahmoo Pulwama, is critical after sustaining a bullet injury in his head.
