All Party Meet: Mehbooba says GoI should consider Ramzan ceasefire

Mehbooba Mufti, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir after chairing the All Party Meet in Srinagar said that the Government of India should consider a ceasefire during the holy month of Ramzan.

Talking to reporters after the conclusion of the meet, Mehbooba said, “It was the unanimous decision of all parties during the meeting that the Government of India should consider ceasefire during Ramzan.”

She said that an all-party delegation would also meet the prime minister Narendra Modi to discuss the outreach.

Earlier, independent MLA Engineer Rashid, who was also present at the All Party Meet had demanded a ceasefire and an end to anti-militancy operations during Ramzan. He had also said that Mehbooba should resign if New Delhi doesn’t listen to her.

‘We will support her, ‘ he told reporters outside SKICC.

Works Minister and Government Spokesman Naeem Akhtar earlier in the day had said that  all the participants in the meet felt that a political outreach is needed in Kashmir.
