Kathua rape-murder case: Guilty will be punished, no innocent person will suffer, says JK BJP chief

The newly appointed BJP Chief of Jammu and Kashmir Ravinder Raina has said that the guilty in the Kathua rape and murder case will be punished and no innocent person will suffer.

Raina arrived in Srinagar after he was named the party’s state president.

Talking to the media on the sidelines of a BJP function , he said, “I know that the Kathua rape and murder case is sub-judice and we need not comment on it, yet I know that the most powerful institution in our country is the judiciary. Those guilty of this heinous crime would get exemplary punishment and no innocent person would suffer.”

Raina avoided questions on the unilateral ceasefire during the month of Ramzan proposed by chief minister Mehbooba Mufti.

In January, an eight-year-old girl from Kathua was abducted, gang raped and murdered, triggering widespread outrage.

Earlier, the Supreme Court of India said no to a CBI probe into the matter. The apex court also rejected to provide security to the witnesses in the case.
