The Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) President Ashraf Mir, has written to the government regarding issues facing the Industries in Kashmir, as asked them to help solve problems for overall growth of the state.
FCIK is an integration of Industrial enterprises and their Associations throughout the Kashmir province. It represents all segments and associations of Industrial sector before the State and Central Governments with an objective to strive for overall growth, promotion and development of industry.
In the letter addressed to the Deputy Chief Minister who is also the Minister for Industries, Commerce & Transport, the Minister for Finance, Labor & Employment, and the Power Development Department, FCIK President Ashraf Mir has said, that the Marketing Policy is being defied ruthlessly and unabatedly by the purchasing departments with impunity.
“The practice of allotting projects on a turkey basis to outside contractors/ vendors including the locally manufactured items in these contracts jeopardizes the future of Local Industry,” the letter reads.
The letter adds, “The Industrial sector of Jammu and Kashmir is badly hit by the rollout of GST and the Industrial production has almost come to a standstill resulting in the employee lay off. The situation is very grim and is compounding the problem of unemployment of the State,” asking for a revisit to the IGST and CGST part of refund.
The letter also raises the issue to self qualification of J&K SICOP for participating in turnkey jobs, extension of North Eastern states package to J&K, land transfer of Zainakote HMT and lack of key officers and Staff in the DIC’s.
