After meeting with Trump, Kim commits to full denuclearization of Korean Peninsula
North Korean leader Kim-Jong Un and US president Donald Trump met in Tuesday in a historic summit in Singapore’s Sentosa Island amidst ongoing crisis of an emerging new arms race across the world. In the summit, Kim Jong Un committed to complete ‘denuclearization’ of the Korean Peninsula.
The summit published four joint statements of the world leaders in a comprehensive news report by Hindustan times outlining the following:
1. The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new US-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.
2. The United States and the DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.
3. Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work towards complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
4. The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.
Donald Trump in the document also agreed to provide security measures to the Korean Peninsula. After the meeting was over, he said, “People are going to be very impressed and people are going to be very happy and we are going to take care of a very dangerous problem for the world.”
This is part of a new series of development that further outlined the recent updates that had rocked diplomatic relations between North Korea and USA with Trump claiming that his nuclear button was ‘bigger and more powerful’. With the summit ending on a positive note, hopes remain as to whether the powerful handshake will bring about powerful changes in the international system.
