108 Hindu migrant refugees from Pakistan receive Indian citizenship

Almost 108 migrants from Pakistan received Indian citizenship on Sunday in Rajasthan, Indo Asian News Service reported.

Ravi Kumar Surpur, Jodhpur District collector gave the citizenship certificates in the Town Hall to the migrants.

The plight of the migrants had first been underlined by the President of the Seemant Lok Sangathan in December 2016 when he had ordered them to issue citizenship certificates. According to him, 6000 people were awaiting the citizenship.

Hindu Singh Soda, President of Seemant Lok Sangathan who has played an active role in highlighting the plight of the migrants, said directions to give them citizenship were issued way back in December 2016.
