Secularists are dacoits, used Muslims for 70 years, threatened and forced us to keep quiet: Owaisi

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has said that Muslims should fight together and vote for the people of their own community if they want to keep secularism alive in India.

“Qasim’s death will make us think. But I am not asking you to shed tears. I beckon your conscience to rise. These people talking about secularism are the biggest daciots… biggest opportunists. They used Muslims for 70 years, threatened us, forced us to keep quiet,” he said.

He added that Muslims needed to become a political force to reckon with.

Targeting Modi while speaking about the Hapur lynching incident, he said. “They used abusive language…throwing expletives at him… and how many arrests were made? Only two. It is happening under your rule… is this your idea of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas?”

This week, in Bajhera Khurd village, Hapur, Qasim, a cattle trader was lynched, while Shamiuddin was harshly thrashed by an irate mob, both allegedly on the suspicion of cow slaughtering. The video of both incidents had gone viral, forcing the police to apologise.

Earlier, Owaisi had rejected the 49 page UN report on human rights violation in Kashmir. The report which focuses on human rights situation in Indian-Administered and Pakistan-Administered Kashmir – details human rights violations and abuses on both sides of the Line of Control, and highlights a situation of chronic impunity for violations committed by forces.
