Srinagar: PDP President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Friday said that fiddling with the State’s special status would have ‘catastrophic ramifications’ for the entire country.
In a tweet, the former CM said:
Today people cutting across party lines & other affiliations are united in their fight against any dilution of Article 35 A. As I have already stated before, fiddling with J&Ks special status will have catastrophic ramifications for the entire country. 2/2

In another tweet, Mehbooba said that her father late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed took great pride in the special status that J-K enjoys under Article 370.My father took great pride in the special status that J&K enjoys under Article 370. He would often mention that while people of the state have made great sacrifices for larger goals, we need to safeguard what we already have. 1/2

On Friday, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) had carried out a protest after Friday prayers in Bilal Masjid at the Bund in Srinagar against the ‘planned abrogation’ of Article 35A. The protest was led by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik.
Malik said the people were ready to defend the article ‘with their blood’.
Earlier, The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik met to ‘deliberate the serious challenge posed to Article 35-A.
