Aware of the incident that took place at father’s residence, details sketchy at moment: Omar

Srinagar: Vice President of National Conference, Omar Abdullah tweeted about the attempted forceful entry of the man identified as Murfas Shah, who earlier today forced his way through the gate in an SUV.

“I am aware of the incident that took place at the residence my father & I share in Bhatindi, Jammu. Details are sketchy at the moment. Initial reports suggest an intruder was able to gain entry through the front door & in to the upper lobby of the house. Further details are awaited as the security personnel carry out the anti-sabotage checks & ascertain the background of the person who was able to force his way in to the house.”

He also replied to a comment that asked him to say that his father had died in the attempted entry.

Earlier today, A man was shot dead in an attempt to enter the residence of former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah in Jammu.

Reports said a person travelling in a car broke the security barricade and attempted to enter the Bhatindi residence of Abdullah.

The forces deployed there shot the person dead, they said. An on-duty officer also received injuries in the incident.

Sources told Free Press Kashmir that Abdullah is currently in Srinagar and not in his Bhatindi residence.

SD Singh Jamwal, IG of Jammu Zone, in a statement said, “there was an attempt of forceful entry into the house (Farooq Abdullah) by an individual named Murfas Shah, resident of Poonch. He forced his way through the VIP gate in an SUV. He was unarmed. Investigation is underway.”

Further details awaited.
