In wake of the deferment of hearing of petitions against the Article 35-A, the Joint Resistance Leadership has also deferred the shutdown call and has asked people to register their protest on August 30 and 31.
During August 6 hearing, the Supreme Court had adjourned the matter till the last week of August.
Earlier, it was reported that the petitions challenging Article 35-A might come up for hearing in the Supreme Court after August 30 as there is no mention of the petitions challenging the legislation in regular cause list of the apex court till August 30.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the Chairman of the Hurriyat (M), in a tweet said:
As the Supreme Court of India is now hearing the case, challenging the state subject law of J&K,on31st Aug as such the statewide protest hartal by JRL against this nefarious move will now be observed on 30th &31st Aug.However protests by different segments of society will continue
