Uri gangrape-murder victim’s body to be exhumed today

Srinagar: The body of the minor girl who was gangraped and murdered by her stepmother, stepbrothers in Uri, Baramulla last week will be exhumed today.

“Body of minor girl of Boniyar will be exhumed today in order to clarify certain more medico-legal aspects which earlier doctors while performing autopsy could not do,” said SSP Baramulla Imtiyaz Hussain.

He said a team of doctors including experts in forensic medicine from GMC Srinagar has reached Boniyar where exhumation will be done.

Earlier, last week, police arrested the victim’s stepmother, stepbrother and three others in connection with the case after the victim’s father filed a missing report.

A police spokesman said that an FIR was registered after a written complaint from the girl’s father on August 24 in which he stated that he feared his nine-year-old daughter has been abducted.

“On receipt of this complaint, case FIR No. 43/2018 under section 363 RPC was registered in P/S Boniyar and investigation was taken up. Thereafter police made strenuous efforts to trace the missing girl by utilizing the available resources however the girl could not be traced out,” said the spokesman.

While giving out the chilling details of the minor girl who was abducted by the stepmother and gang-raped by the victim’s step-brother and his friends in Uri area of Baramulla, SSP Baramulla, Imtiyaz Hussain broke down and said, “never in my 20 years have I witnessed a case like this.”

“The girl’s eyes were removed. Acid had been thrown on her torso. We seized the acid bottles at her house. They had hit her on the head with an axe. I don’t have words to express what I have seen,” he said in a video, while revealing the events.
