Establish a fact finding commission to check gross HR violations in JK: Hurriyat to UN

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has demanded that the UN Human Rights Council should establish a fact finding commission to inquire into the ‘gross human rights violations being committed by the government forces in Jammu and Kashmir so that those responsible for these violations and atrocities against the people are brought to justice.’

The demand was made by the convener APHC Pakistan Administered Kashmir Chapter Syed Faiz Naqshbandi during a meeting he had with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet at the sidelines of 39th session of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

During the meeting Naqshbandi thanked the High Commissioner on behalf of APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and people of Kashmir for her statement during 39th session of Human rights Council at Geneva wherein she said “the people of Kashmir have exactly the same rights to justice and dignity as people all over the world”.

The APHC convener told High Commissioner that her statement and the report of Human Rights Commissioner, dated 14th June 2018, on the situation of Jammu and Kashmir, has given hope to the Kashmiri people that OHCHR cares for the dignity and rights of the Kashmiri people.

“But sadly India has failed to show any respect to this report, instead increased its military repression.”
