Budgam gunfight: Slain militants identified, woman injured in clashes

Srinagar: Massive clashes erupted in Namblabal area of Pampore township in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district between protestors and armed forces on Thursday following the killing of a local militant in a gunfight with forces in Arizal area of Budgam.

Mir and his associate, Mukhtar Ahmad Khan son of Brass Arizal, were killed in a gunfight in Zugoo area of Arizal today morning.

An eye witness said that ‘people, mostly youth, took to streets and pelted the forces with stones as the news of a local militant, Mohd Amin Mir of Drangbal Pampore’.

During the clashes, a woman was injured after being hit by the stone on her head. She was shifted to a nearest hospital for treatment.

The protesters also blocked Srinagar-Jammu highway near Namblabal.

The entire area is currently observing a shutdown.
