KCCI meets Chief Secy Subramanyam, discuss Crop Insurance Cover for farmers affected due to weather

‘Appreciate Chief Secy Subramanyam’s role in North East Industrial Package for JK which is in final stages’

Srinagar: A delegation of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) led by Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad today had a detailed interaction with Mr BVR Subramanyam, Chief Secretary, J&K.

Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad raised the issue of compensation for horticulture sector due on damages caused by snowfall.

The delegation was apprised about the disbursal of around 135 Crores in this regard with further funds of 95 crores earmarked for this purpose.

The problems in implementation of the Crop Insurance Scheme were discussed and concern was expressed at the delay in finalisation of a weather based insurance cover for the farmers.

The delegation appreciated the efforts put in by the Governors Administration especially Mr BVR Subramanyam in following up on the demand for a North East Industrial Package for Jammu and Kashmir which was in final stages.

The KCCI raised the requirement of Trade Centres in the major cities of the Country for promotion of economic activities of the State.

Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad urged for taking up the demand of reduction of GST rates on Handicrafts in the upcoming meet of the GST Council.

The delegation also interacted with Mr K K Sharma, Hon’ble Advisor to the Governor and requested him to raise the issue of reduction of GST rates on Handicrafts.

The delegation also discussed various suggestions for the promotion of Trade and Commerce in and outside the State.

The delegation also raised the issue of losses caused to industries by unscheduled power interruptions.
