One dies in stone-pelting in Kerala amid shutdown against entry of women in Sabarimala Temple

A 55-year old man, an activist of the Sabarimala Karma Samiti, succumbed  to injures in a stone pelting incident Pandalam area of Pathanamthitta district. A shutdown has been called by the opposition in Kerala to protest the entry of two women into the Sabarimala temple.

Police said Chandran Unnithan, succumbed to his injuries early on Thursday after he was injured in a stone pelting incident in Pandalam area. Samiti is an umbrella organisation of several Hindu group, which has been protesting the entry of women to the hilltop shrine.

Two CPI(M) workers have been arrested in connection with the death, officials said.
