Srinagar: Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Thursday while reacting to the resignation of IAS topper Shah Faesal said that the world will take note of his cry of defiance and anguish.
In a tweet, Chidambaram said:
Though sad, I salute Mr @shahfaesal IAS (now resigned). Every word of his statement is true and is an indictment of the BJP government. The world will take note of his cry of anguish and defiance.

In another tweet, the former Home Minister said:Not long ago Mr Rebeiro, the legendary police officer, said the same thing, but there was not a word of reassurance from the Rulers. Such statements from our fellow citizens must make us hang our heads in regret and shame.

Shah Faesal, said that he took the step to protest against the ‘unabated killings and lack of political outreach from New Delhi.’
In a Facebook post, Faesal said, “To protest against the unabated killings in Kashmir, and lack of any sincere reach-out from the Union Government; the marginalization and invisiblization of around 200 million Indian Muslims at the hands of Hindutva forces reducing them to second-class citizens; insidious attacks on the special identity of the J&K State and growing culture of intolerance and hate in the mainland India in the name of hypernationalism, I have decided to resign from Indian Administrative Service.”
Faesal said he wished to remind the regime of the day that subversion of public institutions like RBI, CBI and NIA has the potential to decimate the Constitutional edifice of this Country and it needs to be stopped.
“I wish to reiterate that voices of reason in this country cannot be muzzled for long and the environment of siege will need to end if we wish to usher in true democracy,” he said his Facebook post.
Meanwhile, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah welcomed him into the political fold.
On Thursday, he called on the youth to come out of social media and share their ideas with him.
“If you are ready to come out of Fb/Twitter and show up in Srinagar tomorrow, we could think this through together. My choice of politics will be decided by real people not fb likes and comments. I will share the venue details after I know who all are coming. Let’s see out of those hundreds and thousands how many are ready to walk the talk.
