Srinagar: PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has said that she spoke to the Home Minister of India Rajnath Singh seeking early release of the incarcerated Hurriyat (M) spokesperson Shahid-ul-Islam.
In a tweet, Mehbooba said:
I share your concern for Shahid Ul Islam. Have spoken with HM requesting his early release on humanitarian grounds as the wife has suffered a brain haemorrhage. https://t.co/onrDfnY05Z

Shahid-ul-Islam’s counsel Advocate Rajat Kumar has filed an interim bail plea for his release on humanitarian grounds before NIA Court in Delhi. Islam’s wife Nuzhat Shah survived a brain stroke at JVC hospital in Srinagar last Sunday.Islam is one of the Hurriyat leaders who was arrested last year by the NIA in the alleged terror case.
