Kashmir Solidarity Day conference held in Iran, calls for resolution of Kashmir issue

In a ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ conference held in Qom City of Iran, the participants urged India and Pakistan to reslove the long pending issue of Kashmir.

The conference, held on Monday was organised by Tehreek e Ittehad Ummat Jammu and Kashmir, International Wilayat Mission and Majlis Branch of Majlis e Wahdat Muslimeen.

The conference was presided over by Dr Syed Shafqat Zaidi, a member of Majlis Wahdat Pakistan. During his speech at the conference, he condemned the killings of Muslims in Kashmir and other countries.

He urged Muslim communities to support people of Kashmir openly.

Zaidi also condemned the “Silence of Muslim nations and World human rights organisations towards the atrocities on Muslims especially in Kashmir. The speakers on the occasion urged India, Pakistan India to enter into dialogue to resolve long pending Kashmir Issue.

“We pay homage to the sacrifices of our brethren in Kashmir and reiterate our unflinching, moral and political support for the just cause of people of Kashmir,” one of a speakers said.

Earlier, in the city of Mashhad, locals marked the ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ by rallying with posters with messages of the Supreme leader of the country Ayatullah Khamenei.

Khamenei has time and against called for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute according to the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people. According to a report by Tasnimnews, the youth of the country are following suit.

One of the posters in the rallies taken out by youngster of Mashad read, “For us the issue of Kashmir is related to humanity and Islam. We urge Muslim Ummah to support the oppressed people of Kashmir.”

Another poster read, “Oppressed Muslims of Kashmir are telling the truth and one who is suppresses their voice is doing injustice.”

Last year, Ayatollah Khamenei had asked the country’s judiciary to pursue issue like US sanctions, Muslims of Myanmmar and Kashmir legally and take an official position.

“The Judiciary should intervene from a legal position in such issues as sanctions, US confiscations and terrorism or [come out] in support of downtrodden personalities in the world such as Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky or the Muslims of Myanmar and Kashmir,” Press TV had reported.

Welcoming Khamenei’s statement, the chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani had termed it as ‘timely and pragmatic’.

Moreover, Pakistan Foreign Office (FO) had also welcomed the statement.
