Will forcefully resist every move by New Delhi to change the demography of JK, says Mirwaiz
Srinagar: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Chairman of the Hurriyat (M) on Wednesday said that people of JK will forcefully ‘resist every challenge by New Delhi to change the demography of the state by scrapping article 35-A through its agents.’
In a tweet, Mirwaiz said that the Bar Association of Kashmir is ready to defend the Article 35-A in the Supreme Court of India.

Meanwhile, a two-day shutdown in protest against the tinkering of the Article 35-A began across Kashmir.
The JRL had urged the people observe shutdown on Feb 13, 14 to protest and resist any move to change demographic nature of Jammu and Kashmir by scrapping hereditary state subject law guaranteed under Article 35-A of Indian Constitution.
In a statement, JRL had said that late announcement and ambiguity over the dates of hearing of 35-A and 370 by Supreme Court on 13 or 14 of February is “worrisome, and indicates of mischief.”
