Seven civilians detained in Shopian during nocturnal raids

Srinagar: Seven civilians were detained by the armed forces in Arhama village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district during nocturnal raids.

Reports said that during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, a contingent of armed forces including the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the paramilitary forces raided the village.

During the raids, at least seven local residents from the village were detained and taken to Police Station Shopian.

The arrested civilians have been identified as Ishaq Ittoo, son of Ahsan Ittoo, 29, a government employee in health department; Mehrajuddin Mir, son of Ghulam Qadir Mir, 34, shopkeeper; Arshid Lone, son of Abdul Jabbar Lone, 24, shopkeeper; Shabir Kulley, son of Rashid Kulley, 25 years, pursuing Masters Degree in Arts; Ghulam Nabi Mir, son of Qadir Mir, 55, a tailor master; Irfan Ittoo, son of Abdul Rashid, 20, Driver; Fayaz Ahmad Mir, son of Muhammad Ahsan Mir, 49, an employee in Revenue Department.
