LS Polls: Amid shutdown, Srinagar witnesses 1.23 percent voting till 9 am

Srinagar: In wake of the second phase of polls in the Kashmir, a complete shutdown is being observed across the valley.

All the business establishments remained closed in Srinagar while traffic was off the roads. Heavy deployment of the police and paramilitary forces has been made at all the sensitive places across the Srinagar-Budgam parliamentary constituency seat which is going to polls.

Meanwhile, over six per cent votes were polled till 9 am in Udhampur and Srinagar parliamentary seats of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. While the Udhampur seat recorded 8.6 per cent polling, the Srinagar-Budgam parliamentary seat recorded 1.23 per cent polling.

Following district wise figures were provided by the officials: Reasi 9.7 percent; Kathua 13.5 percent; Udhampur 12 percent; Ramban 2.9 percent; Doda 9.7 percent; Budgam 1.6 percent; Ganderbal 1.2 percent; and Srinagar 0.9 percent.

Twelve candidates are in fray for the Srinagar-Budgam parliamentary constituency seat.
