Nawakadal Gunfight: Another injured civilian succumbs to burn injuries at SMHS hospital, toll three

‘Two deaths in a single day’

Srinagar: The death toll in a house collapse at Nawakadal gunfight site mounted to three, as one more civilian succumbed to his injuries at SMHS hospital in Srinagar on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, an elderly man identified as Manzoor Ahmad, who was also injured at the same spot, succumbed at SMHS hospital, according to health officials.

Barely a few hours after Manzoor’s death, one more injured youth identified as Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, 35, son of Muhammad Hafeez Bhat of Jamalatta, Nawa Kadal, Srinagar, also breathed his last at SMHS hospital.

“Another injured has succumbed today afternoon. This is the second death since morning,” Medical Superintendent SMHS, Dr Nazir Choudhary said. He said that the both the deceased had burn injuries.

Four persons were injured in the incident and one of them, a 12 year old, Basim Aijaz, died earlier this week.

Two militants, including Junaid Sehrai, son of Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, were killed in a gunfight with Indian Armed Forces. At least fifteen houses were destroyed.
