246 COVID cases reported in JK, tally rises to 8,675

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Monday reported 246 covid-19 infections, taking the overall tally of the cases to 8675 in J&K.

Officials said that 36 cases were reported from Jammu division while 210 from Kashmir Valley which includes five paramilitary CRPF, three policemen and one army personnel, besides two pregnant women and as many minors.

Dr G H Yatoo, Nodal Officer Coronavirus Control Measures at SKIMS Soura said that out of the 2,234 samples that were processed at the viral diagnostic laboratory of the hospital, 117 returned positive for the virus.

Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, said that they include 47 from Kulgam, 34 from Pulwama, 13 from Srinagar, six from Baramulla, five each from Budgam, and CRPF battalions, two from Anantnag besides one each from Bandipora, Kupwara, Shopian.

Dr Riyaz Untoo, Principal SKIMS Bemina, said that out of 488 samples processed at the hospital’s lab, 52 tested positive for COVID-19 and includes 37 from Srinagar and 15 from Shopian.

Meanwhile, 63 COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals—eight from Jammu and 55 from Valley.
