Kulgam: Woman accuses three govt teachers of kidnapping and raping her, one arrested

Kulgam: A woman in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district has alleged that she was kidnapped and then raped by three government teachers.

The woman (name withheld) approached the police station with a written complaint in which she alleged that three government teachers yesterday evening took her to the orchards and raped her.

The woman has identified the accused teachers as Hilal Ahmed Dar son Abdul Rahid of the same Chachmulla village, Nazir Ahmed Shah son of Mohiuddin Shah of Gandwani village, and Amir Farooq Wani of same Gandwani village.

All the accused are posted at Government Middle School Gandwani of Damhal Hanjipora.

Local police has said that a case with FIR No 109/2020 U/S 366,376 IPC was registered and investigation was set into motion.

A police official said that one of the accused Hilal Dar has been arrested while efforts are on to nab the remaining two.

In this regard, locals at Chachmulla Damhal Hanjipora village have staged a protest demanding stringent punishment to the culprits. They demand arrest of those two accused who are still at large.

Meanwhile, Police in a statement said that on July 5, 2020 Police Station DH Pora received a complaint that a girl (name withheld) was kidnapped and sexually assaulted by 3 persons. It was mentioned that the prime accused is from village Chachimullah while the other two are from Gandwani.

Upon receiving of the complaint, Police accordingly filed a case with FIR No 109/2020 U/S 366,376 IPC and investigation was set into motion.

Around 24, hours later, a police team from DH Pora police station, arrested the main accused and searches for the other two are going on.

Police added that there are rumours being floated that police has let off the accused persons or that the medical examiner was trying to convince the victim to change her statement. The rumours are baseless and are being propagated to create unrest.

In case someone has specific information with respect to the rumours the same may be communicated to police so that necessary action can be taken.
