Srinagar: A local Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) worker and Vice President of Municipal Committee Watergam, Baramulla, Merajuddin Malla, has been allegedly abducted by unidentified persons.

“Malla was whisked away by the ‘unidentified persons’ in a santro vehicle while he was walking on a road to meet his friend,” a police official told media.

When asked whether the alleged abductors were armed, the officer said: “It is a matter of investigation. As of now searches are underway.”

Meanwhile, a joint team of armed forces personnel have launched searches in the area to nab the persons responsible for the incident.

The incident comes days after militants attacked a BJP leader in Bandipora and killed him along with his two family members- father and brother.
